Corporathon

What is an AI hackathon?

An AI hackathon is a 1 to 5 day format where teams solve real business problems with AI tools. Definition, flow and benefits.

Definition

An AI hackathon is a one to five day intensive format in which teams from a company solve a real business problem with modern AI tools. Instead of slides and lectures the work happens on real data. The result is a working prototype, not just a certificate.

Where the term comes from and what makes it special today

The word hackathon combines hack and marathon and comes from software development, where teams build a solution together in a short time. An AI hackathon carries that principle over to work with AI tools. What is new is that no one needs to code deeply anymore. With tools like Lovable, n8n, ChatGPT and Custom GPTs, teams without a developer background build real applications in a few days. That is why the format suits not only IT departments but also marketing, sales, HR and leadership teams.

AI training vs AI hackathon

Criterion Classic AI training / seminar Corporathon AI hackathon
Output certificate, attendance record working prototype
Knowledge retention unclear without transfer measurement measurable through prototype quality, usage and handoff
AI adoption after 30 days unclear without measurement measure through usage and handoff
ROI evidence hardly possible tangible projects and results
Format lecture, slides hands-on, real data and tools
Time to result weeks to months 1 week

How a hackathon runs

Day 1 begins with AI foundations and a tool workshop where the team gets to know the stack, including Cursor, Lovable, n8n, Gamma, Claude Code and Custom GPTs. Then come team building and ideation, each group picks a real challenge. The kickoff leads into the sprint, from here the building starts. On day 2 and the following days the work continues to deployment, then come the pitches and the handoff to IT. The goal is clear, after 24 hours a running prototype stands, not a concept on paper. Depending on the format the work deepens over two to five days.

What you take away

From a Corporathon you take away 3 to 5 ready-to-use prototypes, plus an impact report, a skills library, an IT handoff package and a group of internal AI champions who carry the knowledge forward. Since 2 February 2025, Article 4 of the EU AI Act requires companies to train their staff in working with AI. The hackathon provides a solid competence record for that. More on /en/eu-ai-act.

Services and packages

Corporathon comes in three formats. Spark, 1 day, up to 10 participants, for a focused start. Ignite, 2 days, 10 to 15 participants, the most booked format. Blaze, 3 to 5 days, 15 and more, for deep transformation across several teams. After that come follow-up offerings, the AI Implementation Sprint over 2 to 4 weeks, the Recurring Hackathon Series on a quarterly rhythm and the AI Enablement Program over 3 to 6 months. Prices on request. Details on /en/formats.

Next steps to the hackathon

  1. Intro call, we settle the goal, the team and the right scope (https://cal.com/jamboula/ai-hackathon).
  2. Tools and challenges call, we collect your real use cases and the right stack.
  3. Finalization, we lock format, date and participants.
  4. Hackathon preparation, access, sample data and environments are set up.
  5. Tool workshop, the team learns the stack hands-on.
  6. Hackathon sprint, each team builds its own challenge on real data.
  7. Result pitches, the running prototypes are presented and handed to IT.

Challenges

Typical challenges in an AI hackathon are an email reply assistant, a daily briefing agent, a meeting-to-action-items workflow, an executive reporting autopilot and an internal knowledge bot on your documents. A proposal generator from raw notes fits well, as does an onboarding assistant that guides new colleagues through processes. You pick the challenge that really occupies you, we bring the stack and the coaching.

FAQ

What is an AI hackathon in one sentence? An AI hackathon is a one to five day intensive format in which a team solves a real business problem with modern AI tools and builds a working prototype. Instead of slides the work happens on real data. The result is something you keep using, not just a certificate.

How long does an AI hackathon take?

Do you need to know how to code to take part? No. The tool workshop at the start brings everyone up to speed. Tools like Lovable, ChatGPT and n8n have low barriers, so teams without a developer background build real applications too. Those who want to go deeper use Cursor or Claude Code with guidance.

What sets an AI hackathon apart from an AI training? A training transfers knowledge on slides, a hackathon lets the team apply the knowledge and build with it. After the training a certificate and retention that is unclear without transfer measurement remain, after the hackathon a prototype and measurable practical transfer. The difference shows after 30 days.

What do we take away concretely? 3 to 5 ready-to-use prototypes, an impact report, a skills library, an IT handoff package and internal AI champions. Plus an internal AI literacy measures record. The prototypes keep running instead of disappearing in a drawer, and the team can build on them itself.

Is an AI hackathon possible remotely? Yes. The hackathon runs on-site with you or remote over video and shared working environments. The flow and the result stay the same either way. We settle what fits in the intro call.

Training depth: why training matters only when it is applied

This domain needs to be the strongest answer for AI training in German search. The searcher expects structure, safety and a clear learning path. The better answer is: yes, there is tool input and didactic guidance, but training does not end at understanding. It ends with application. Every core page should explain how employees move from foundations to their own challenge and why the prototype is the real learning test.

Employee perspective, not only HR perspective

AI training wins when employees feel enabled, not examined. Strong pages therefore speak not only about certificate and duty, but about relief in daily work: less copy paste, better research, faster replies, clearer meetings, fewer manual reports. That makes the training domain more human and stronger than pure compliance communication.
